Julian Sark was an elusive criminal affiliated with many terrorist organizations and avid follower of the work of Milo Rambaldi. As stated by Anna Espinosa, Sark was a "man so ruthless in his shifting allegiances that he killed his own father". His flexible alliances were notorious, offering his services to anyone who paid enough money (or agreed to let him stay alive) - even the US government. He was skilled in evading capture, managing to stay active years after the destruction of APO despite two previous CIA imprisonments.

Sark was a connoisseur of fine wine with a preference for Chateau Petrus '82. (Rendezvous)

Early life

Before Season 1

Sark spent much of his youth growing up in England. However, he spent a significant portion of his lifetime growing up in Ireland as well. His childhood was not a happy one, as his father was very abusive to him and left his family at a young age, perhaps the only memories he has of him (Remnants).

Season 1

Sark is first introduced as an operative of "The Man," assassinating the head of FTL (The Coup) at the same time McKenas Cole's team infiltrates the Credit Dauphine building. He later kills the head of K-Directorate, Ilych Ivankov, in negotiations for a Rambaldi artifact in an abandoned building in Moscow to ensure cooperation in the deal. Sark later reappears as an agent of 'The Man' during negotiations for the Rambaldi Solution in Denpasar as a result of an operation designed by Sydney and Vaughn, however, the ruse is interrupted by Dixon and Sark is ultimately captured by SD-6 (The Solution). After being captured by Sloane, Sark agrees to help in Sloane's efforts to stop Khasinau by helping SD-6 acquire Rambaldi documents in Khasinau's Paris nightclub. As the operation is being carried out, Sark manages to escape, though he is tracked through the radioactive isotype Sloane laced his wine with. When a tactical team reach Sark's supposed location, all they discover is medical equipment; Sark having had a blood transfusion. He then proceeds to kidnap Will Tippin from the CIA safehouse he was being protected in (Rendezvous). Sark later handles another deal; the Rambaldi page containing instructions about 'the Circumference' for Will Tippin. He chastises Jack Bristow for revealing the page though Jack remarks Sark would have done exactly the same (Almost Thirty Years). Although Sark appears to betray Khasinau, who is though to be 'The Man' throughout season one, he does retain his loyalty to the real person behind 'The Man.'

Season 2

After faking an attempt on Arvin Sloane's life (The Counteragent), Sark partners with Sloane, pretending to have turned himself in to the CIA. He accompanies Sydney Bristow on several missions; after Sloane disappears, Sark leaks information to Sydney about the existence of Server 47, which eventually allows the CIA to take down the Alliance of Twelve. In (Truth Takes Time), it is revealed that Sark partnered with Sloane as part of Irina Derevko's endgame.

Working for the Covenant

Season 3

In season 3, we learn from Lazarey that Sark is a descendent of the Russian royal family, the Romanovs, which allows him to inherit around $800 million in gold bullion after Lazarey's supposed death (murdered by Julia Thorne). This money was used to finance the operations of The Covenant after the coercion of Sark on their part which explains Sark's continued allegiance to them and why they helped him escape from CIA custody.

The Episode Bob marks Sark's return to the series. With the death of The Covenant leader Elena Derevko and the resulting apparent fall the Covenant, Sark has gone freelance on this occasion he is working on behalf of sudanese warlord to obtain a weaspon of mass destruction. New APO recruit Rachel Gibson and he have a tryst while waiting for a trasmission that neither knows the other intends to intercept. After Gibson discover his identity and report this to APO Sark is hired by the agency to help recover the weapon through he ultimately refuses payment after Gibson saved his life. In I See Dead People  Sloane sends Sark a secret Message, presumably to secure his ervices to work with Anna Espinosa{ Sydney} Impersonating Anna who has been doubled into Sydney and subsequently killed by Sydney. Sark engineers for them to be taken into custody in an itailan prison to scare a Rambaldi amulet from an eldery Man known only as The Rose. Sark laters teams with Sloane and Kelly Peyton to obtain The Horzion the Final Rambaldi artifact Sloane needs to complete his endgame from Irina in exchange for two Missiles. Sfter planting a bomb to destory APO headquaters killing Thomas Grace one of the APO Agents, Sark accompanies Sloane to Mongoila to excavate the tomb of Milo Rambaldi 's and became involved in stand-off involing Vaughn, Jack, and other of Sloane's operatives. In A gun Battle in Rambaldi's tomb. Sark retieves the Horizon and returns it to Irina in Hong Knong. On Irina's orders Sark Preares to Luanch the missiles at Washington  D.C and London  but is capturned and shot by Vaughn apparently allows the wounded Sark to Depart.

Years later

Sark was still active years after Sydney and Vaughn's retirement, and Dixon requested their help in tracking him down as he stole a hard drive containing classified information. Sydney jokingly pointed out that Vaughn should have stopped Sark when he had the chance (All The Time In The World).

Sark had a one night stand with Rachel Gibson, not realizing that she was a CIA agent. Similarly, she did not realize he was a person of interest and instead took him at his word that he was "Bob Brown" an American at a "geek conference". He was hired by APO to collect the data they were trying to track but refused payment after Rachel saved his life (Bob).
